ACS NSW AISIG - Artificial Intelligence - Monthly Meeting

Date: Wednesday 29th March 2000.

Time: 6:30pm till 8:00pm & dinner afterwards.

Topic: New Approaches to Reasoning and Creativity

Douglas Hofstadter in his 'Fluid Concepts and Creative
Analogies' attempts to model analogical reasoning and
creativity of the human mind. This is quite different from
other AI techniques and uses distributed pieces of code (run
at random) to build a solution. How each problem is perceived
has an influence on the choice of solution applied.

Speaker:
Peter Shanahan, Design engineer, ROJONE Pty Ltd

Scope of the Group:
to maintain and acquire knowledge about the changing focus of
leading edge research and technology transfer

        Evolutionary programming Soft computing Complexity
    Biotechnology Ethics Privacy Knowledge
management
             Networks Agent technology Induction
