Hello, can any one explain simply how to control a parallel port, I need to
know what data values to send to the port for reading and writing, I want to
connect a controller card that I built from a hobbyist's web site, this kit
or project has three stepper motors X, Y and Z Axis, plus it has two relay
switches one for motor start and one for coolant pump and also 8 other
switches, three are X,Y and Z limit switches, one is emergency stop and the
other 4 switches I am not quite sure, But I don't know how the parallel port
works for reading and writing, I am using parallel port &H378 or (888),
LPT1:, to send and receive data and I know that &H379 or (889) is the status
port and that &H37A or (890) is the control port, I have read many articles
and books on the parallel port but I am still very confused, all the
information I have found is much too technical for me no body explains what
values to send, plus I have tried my hand at sending and receiving data to
the project but things dont make any sence to me, there seems to be to many
combinations, I would have better luck at winning lotto than trying to work
this out, I have been at it for many many weeks now and I am desperate, here
is some info on this project, it uses a centronics connector on the
controller card, D0 - D5 is connected to pins 2 - 7 and it has another wire
connected to pin 13 and pins 19-30 are all grounded all the other pins are
not connected, so if you could help me I would be really greatfull.

Kind Regards Sparky240
