Hi folks,
 
The reference for the following question(s) is the SunLink HSI/S 2.0
Installation and Administration Guide (from SunConnect)
 
I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has run:
 
        hsi_test -t 4 hihM
 
successfully to test the RS449 Null Modem.
At this site we have not been able to get it to work.
We set the test up as in section 4.3.1 of the manual (mentioned above)
from the subsection "Test Option 4" to test the correct operation
of a null-modem cable.  Our machines are Dual processor Sparcstation
20/512s each with a HSI/S expansion card and running Solaris 2.3 with
the following patches applied:

101739-04 102034-01 101889-01 101362-24 101512-20 101306-06 101130-04
 
The RS449 synchronous null modems cables are built according to
Appendix A, figure A1.  We have tried several different such cables.
 
Most of the fiddling we have done is to vary the Speed and where
the transmit and receive clocks are sent from, but with no success 
to date -- always 100% packet loss. 
 
Any suggestions?
