I have had many replies to my questions (thanks all!) and the summary of what I have found is: The Sun SS2 (and 1/1+) motherboards are terminated at the SCSI controller at one end and the other end is the high-density connector at the rear of the case which is NOT terminated unless an external device is connected to it. In situations where external devices are used, only the LAST unit on the chain should be terminated. For internal devices there are two SCSI connectors on the motherboard which are SCSI 'stubs' (the proper term I find out) ie: they do not daisy chain into another device, as such devices connected to either or both stubs must NOT be terminated. The stubs cables must be as short as possible to eliminate elctromagnetic 'features' from appearing. Simple when you know how ;-) Thanks and many beers to all who responded, I shall mail the FAQer asking for the possible inclusion of this information for all the newbies such as myself. ptm
