Good morning,

	i am relatively...no extremely new to tex/latex and am trying to use 
lyx as a gui.  my problem is that lyx only uses the apparently default fonts 
used by latex (ie. sans serif, roman and typewritter).  it allows me to insert
latex commands which i understand is how i would change the font but a) i don't
know what fonts are available to me nor where they are; and b) i don't know the
correct syntax for making this font change happen.  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
