hi ppl,

about 2 months ago, i bought a second hand NEC versa 2400 laptop,
the laptop has been workin fine up untill about a week ago,

I turned it on one day to discover that the screen was almost
completley white and near impossible to see, so my first guess was
that someone has changed the contrast control,

while holding down the function key on the laptop i pressed the right
arrow key which is supposed to change the contrast when pressed in
conjuction with the function key. after pressing this key 5 times
there was absolutley no change at all in the contrast and the screen
was still almost completley white, then on the 6th push the contrast
changed to the complete opposite black, as it changed from white to
black for a split second i could see the contrast at the correct
level half way in between, so i pressed the left arrow and the
opposite and the same thing occured going from black to white.

i have tested the laptop with a monitor, so i know the video card is
not at fault, and i'm pretty sure the screen is ok, becasue i see it
at the right contrast for that split second,

i live in the country and the nearest computer techniacian is a long
way a way so i was wondering, if ne 1 could perhaps suggest what they
think the problem is and if i could fix it myself and how to go about
it

and if i could not do it myself then how much it would cost me?

ne help would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance, th3pwood
