Dear TeXies,
The new CTAN mirror at CTAN.unsw.edu.au now has all files
at the CTAN archive, ftp.tex.ac.uk, except those less than a day old.
CTAN.unsw.edu.au is in Sydney, Australia.

Anonymous FTP to ctan.unsw.edu.au offers dynamic compression and
decompression and `quote site index filename'. The CTAN files are in
the directory tree /tex-archive.

The URL for WWW browsing is: http://ctan.unsw.edu.au/

North American clients are very welcome during their business hours
which are very early morning in Sydney.

File compression at ctan.unsw.edu.au is exactly the same as at
ftp.tex.ac.uk. Installation of packages downloaded from us does not
require additional steps with an unfamiliar decompression program.

If you mirror one of CTAN.unsw.edu.au's subdirectories, the 'ls -lR'
times on our files are the same as those at ftp.tex.ac.uk. You can
swap between us and CTAN archives without your mirror program
automatically downloading all files again.

For mirroring the whole of CTAN, compressed daily 'ls -lR' files
relative to the working directory /tex-archive are provided in
subdirectory /ctan with daily 'diff' files for 'patch'.

When mirroring CTAN.unsw.edu.au, I recommend starting at 2110 EST.

I am grateful for help, advice and encouragement from the CTAN team.
