on my win95 pinball machine.
Would anyone be kind enough, to help me restore the full working condition of
the crystal in question?
In the "system" I do actually have three failures "Wave device for Modem,
MPU401PnP audio and MPU401 compatible.
Being a Newbee I really don't know how to habdle this.
I called IBM, they told me it is a software problem, and they cannopt help.
My computer is an Aptiva IBM, win95, IE 4.0, 32MB ram etc
Anyone good enough to suggest what to do?
Thanks a million, J

I'm standing now in aus.computers.ibm-pc where on Sat, 12 Dec 1998

johnpete@SPAMBLOCKnorex.com.au) was heard by a dozen or more witnesses to
say....

Why don't you delete the soundcard and modem from the Device Manager, and
then reboot Windows and see if they are installed properly.

Would I have to use the Win95 cd-rom disk to do that or just as you said, delete
both and re-start the computer?
What might be the consequences in doing that? (I mean if it fails to work, I
wouldn't have a modem anymore?).
Sorry, it may sounds stupid, but I'm not as expert as many here.

You may well do, and in the case of your modem, the disk
that comes with that. Particularly if the sound and modem
are one device and its never been properly installed.

> or just as you said, delete both and re-start the computer?

Likely not, particularly with the modem.

Yes, that is certainly possible, particularly if its an unusual
modem that Win95 isnt prepared to use its own drivers for
etc. And even if it is, it may well want to get those off the CD.

This area is one that can bite even relatively experienced users
if you dont have the Win95 CD and the disk for the modem etc.

What is the story there, did you buy the whole system as a new one
with that hardware installed or have you bought it second hand etc ?
