Went to buy a couch from Plush, was told there'd be a 3 mths waiting period for it to be made in China! Bought an entertainment unit from Freedom, 2 months waiting, WTF?? If I could buy online, I'd have got it sooner from China AND cut out the middle man. Is there a law to stop retailers selling items they dont actually STOCK in this country or what?

One of the best was a cloud my brother pointed out to me -- and, as is always the case, you never have a camera at this times -- which looked amazing similar to the Horse Head Nebula. And don;t even get me started about stars! People have been seeing everything from Bears to Hunters and even Fish in the night sky for thousands of years.... -- -- Check out my friend's lame show, featuring "animations by JTEM" http://jtem.tumblr.com/post/4294769618

I've been saying for years, what we *really* need to export (if we want to fix our trade imbalance) is unions. Let's see how China likes a bit of socialist egalitarianism.

We've long since changed from being a producing, exporting nation to an importer, with a "service" economy. I believe this is a dead end; if you don't produce nearly as much for export as you import, you're headed for disaster. If (as here) you have quit making things, then when the currency is devalued and you can't import what you need, you can't get it from in-country either. The last time I checked, the U.S. was even a net importer of *food*! "The farms of Ohio had been replaced by shopping malls" (Pretenders)

Our apple growers are up in arms at the moment over imported apples. Apparently we can import them from New Zealand cheaper than we can grow them here. And never mind the disease that is rife in NZ orchards. Shill #2

But then, I guess such rubbish compliments your musical tastes and ability perfectly. Then there is the irony of you asking "What's happened to Australia?" whilst at the same time lamenting that you'll have to wait for your lovely Chinese made piece of chipboard to arrive.
