Heat of combustion: 5000 kwh per tonne.

If you pay 8 cents for off peak electricity to run through your bar radiator,
it's worth $400 per tonne.
The normal rates are around 14 cents/kwh, making litter worth more like $700
per tonne.

Incidentally, that goes for woodchip too...that we sell to the Japs for about
$30 a tonne.

Clever country, my arse Bob.

Well go out and get some.
You could run a steam car for a year on ten tonnes of it....

Never learn maths, pyro?

The Victorian fires were made far worse by the idiot firefighters who went
round setting everything on fire as soon as they saw a little smoke.
The main reason that fire was so bad was that the forest themselves have been
so heavily altered by logging that much of the undergrowth is highly flammable
and fire resistant. The flammable stuff returns first...
Manmade drought, caused largely by previous forest burning in OZ, Brazil,
Africa and Indonesia has made the forests tinder dry. There are few hollows in
which animals would normaly been able to hide from a fire and the undergrowth
is quite different from that of an old growth forest.
