"Acceptable levels for contaminated land"

Hi,

I trust you don't mind an unsolicited posting, especially from the
other side of the world.

I'm hoping someone in Oz can give me a bit of information.

Here in the UK we have guidance notes published by the Department of the
Environment giving advice on "acceptable" contamination levels in
formerly industrialised land, scheduled for re-development. The target
of any remediation is to achieve the appropriate level for the intended
end-use.

ie 10mg/kg Arsenic for Domestic gardens / 40mg/kg Arsenic for parklands
etc...

(Clearly low-rise domestic housing is more sensitive that apartments with
no gardens is more sensitive than a landscaped office development is more
sensitive than an industrial estate etc.)

The current guidance in the UK is produced by an organisation called ICRCL
(the Interdepartmental Committee for the Redevelopment of Contaminated
Land)

Is there an equivalent for Australia, and can you give me a reference for
any similar publications on the subject. I am sure that I saw a paper by
ANZLIC or some similar name (Australia & new Zealand Land Information
Council maybe?) a few years ago, but I can't track it down.

All help gratefully received.

Thanks in advance
