Hi I live in the UK and work on the betting principle that if someone who really knows his local team is willing to share that information with say his opponents for that week, and you can get lots of informants from every from every team on the coupon/betting list, then that information is most useful in the fight against the bookies. I will be opening a site for this on UK soccer ready for next season. But of course, what do we in the UK bet on in the summer, AUSTRALIAN FOOTIE of course, which I'm afraid we know very little about.(Do you know how Doncaster will get on against Stevenage in the UK?) So do Australians bet on English or Australian Soccer. How. Pools? Fixed odds? Anyone interested in this opportunity. Usefull info available for you if you bet on UK soccer? If anyone can help me in my research I would be most gratefull. Rob Thompson

While I am not a hardcore betting person www.sportodds.com.au is not a bad site. Either way our Football season is October - May or June so it overlaps with your season. This also gives us *some* chance of getting Harry Kewell back here once per year. Tancred

I'm none the wiser but thanks. Soccer, Football? All I suppose I really wanted to know about was that game that gets played and is featured on our football coupons when there is no decent teams over here playing in our summer(when its too hot!!!!!! June July early Aug. though thats getting shorter now) What confuses me in the first place is I'M married to someone brough up in Melbourne who hates any sport anyway Gone are the days when a friend in Oz could phone here with the results and we could nip down the bookies and get a bet on. Hope you all enjoyed the rugby world cup that was on over here, just down the road from me. Rob Oh no I mentioned Rugby, did I mean league union or...................

How often have they rated more than an AFL or NRL match? -- cheers, Dave Go Dons!! remove .au to reply

Why can't you people grow up and accept it? Well, from a QLD'er viewpoint (which I'd imagine is much the same as those in NSW), there's no denying that our local AFL team (in my case, the Brisbane Lions) are popular here, and most sport followers take interest in how they are doing, but that's it... no-one up here could give a toss abour what's happening elsewhere in the AFL, if it doesn't concern the Lions, it's irrelevent... no-one even cares who wins the Brownlow unless it's a Lions player. The NRL's popularity up here on the other hand, is much more widespread - not only are most people interested in what their team is doing, but they often have a team they despise, a couple of teams they don't mind and there's enough shots of the cheerleaders at half-time to keep us interested in the other games in the round. Popularity isn't only about how many people go to watch the game, but also the effect that it has on the local community... practically every town in QLD has junior rugby league, but you'd be hard pressed to even find an Aussie rules football, let alone a junior comp, outside of the main cities. Wanderer.

Yeah? Those soccer referees must be pretty stupid then. I saw a match the other
day, and th eball was constantly hitting the players head, chest and knees.
Even a goal was scored off the head! You'd think the referee would pull it up.

What the fuck are you talking about? Perth Glory was on the back page of todays
local paper! Admittedly, it was about how much shit they are in off the field,
but that seems to be the norm for any form of soccer across Australia. The only
pre-requisite to be a soccer administrator is that you have to be lacking a
brain and be totally absent of any common sense whatsoever.

June July early Aug. Firstly, football is played worldwide. Brazil is hot all year round. Saudis play in over 45C. Secondly, the teams in Australia are great!
