I've been playing around with the Series and SeriesCoefficient functions in 
Mathematica.  These relate to generating functions but I don't know what a 
GF actually is.  Information I've read on Wikipedia and Mathworld is very 
terse and hard to understand for someone with only a high school mathematics 
background.
