You are invited to this free breakfast talk in Sydney. I organize these for the Australian Technology Park on the last Friday of each month. Suggestions for who to have next year would be welcome: --- Designing the Future: The Internet in Australia Speaker: Tony Hill, President of the Internet Society of Australia 8:00am 27 August 2004 Australian Technology Park, Bay 8 (Foyer of Exhibition Hall), Locomotive Workshop. Register Now: http://www.atp.com.au/atppm/events/ Development of Internet based technology continues at a strong pace after the dot-com boom and bust. These events were events of the financial climate surrounding spectacular growth in the popularity of the Internet, and are not reflected in the popularity of using new Internet based technologies. Australia needs to learn lessons from the boom in popularity of the Internet and understand what factors will give us maximum benefit from Internet technology in the future. The key elements are the end to end connectivity and interoperability provided by the Internet combined with user access to the transport protocol. The development of new Internet technology over coming years will continue to provide a platform for innovation and substantial benefits for business and individual users alike. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Tony Hill is President of the Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU) and principal of Capital Hill Consulting Pty Ltd. From 1999 to 2001, he worked as Executive Director of ISOC-AU that is the Australian chapter of the worldwide Internet Society (ISOC). Tony Hill has a background in senior government and information management extending over two decades. As principal of Capital Hill Consulting Pty Ltd, Tony Hill provides consulting advice on large scale research funding, including strategic research management and cooperative research arrangements. He has been instrumental in developing successful funding of a range of major research ventures in Australia and has been advisor to governments on establishing new programs for developing effective linkages and knowledge transfer between industry, universities and government research labs. --- Tom Worthington FACS, Director, Tomw Communications Pty Ltd ABN: 17 088 714 309 http://www.tomw.net.au PO Box 13, Belconnen ACT 2617
