Today I was present at the launch of the ACT photonics industry strategy. (This is a fascinating story in itself, which I will discuss on aus.science in due course.) One of the speakers was Tony Staley, Chair of the Australian Photonics Cooperative Research Centre. He is also a former Minister for Communications and former President of the Liberal Party. Bearing in mind what Senator Alston thinks he is trying to do with control of Internet content, something Tony Staley said isn't going to go down well in his party. He said he likes the Internet "because no bastard can control it, no government can control it". Cheers David

He said he likes the Internet "because no >bastard can control it, no government can control it". That's a tautological statement. Nick. -- Do not send me email copies of postings.
