Hate the GST? Did you ask for it? There is something you can do about it! We have a Mandate, (that is an order or command), going to the Queensland Parliament to command the Parliament to abandon the GST, and you need to sign. We need all Queensland electors to sign. It is an historical move because it will be the first time anywhere in the world that a people have instructed their Parliament to carry out the people๏s will in an official, peaceful and legal way. When over 50% of the qualified electors in Queensland tell the Parliament to withdraw from the Goods and Services Tax arrangement with the Commonwealth, that Parliament has no choice but to obey the will of the people. This is true democracy in action. Petitions are only requests and cannot put the Parliament under a legal obligation to do anything. A Mandate ensures that the Parliament obeys the people, so it does not matter if we present the Mandate after the 1st July 2000. Many hands make light work and we need volunteers as well as donations to pay for the printing and distribution to well over one million Queenslanders. Call the Brisbane phone number (ph: 3891 9560) or access the web-site (http://www.ozscan.net.au/mandate/), to obtain information to: -answer your questions about the Mandate; -find out where you can sign a Mandate form; -find out how to obtain the Mandate forms; -get advice on how to distribute the forms and have people complete them; -obtain copies of related information; -obtain information about better tax alternatives. Tell everyone you speak to that we can make a difference and remove this ugly tax that would make life harder for most Australians. Once Queensland withdraws from the arrangements, the GST cannot work and the Commonwealth will have to abandon it. What would you tell your children if you did not sign to remove this GST? How would you explain your lack of action? If you are motivated and understand the seriousness of our situation regarding the GST, then please order a ream of 500 sequence numbered forms, the cost is $25 which includes postage to your address. Send donations or orders requesting a ream with cheques payable to "Project Mandate" to the following address: "Project Mandate", c/o Australia Post, Post Office, EVERTON PARK, 4053, and don๏t forget to include your return name and address. To see Section 165-55 of the GST Act, the bit that allows the Taxation Commissioner to lie his head off about you and your affairs, and perhaps have you sent to jail as a result of his lies, go to : http://scaleplus.law.gov.au/html/pasteact/3/3269/1/PA006540.htm The GST is about control and nothing else. When one state withdraws from the GST then the whole GST system will have to be repealed because otherwise the GST tax would be discriminating between states, and this is not allowed by the Commonwealth Constitution Section 51 sub-section II. See http://scaleplus.law.gov.au/html/pasteact/1/641/0/PA000700.htm -------------------------------------------------------- To complete the form, each person must know which Queensland state electorate they are registered in. To find out, contact the Electoral Commission of Queensland - internet: http://www.ecq.qld.gov.au/ or phone: 3227 6444, or look for your Member of Parliament at: http://www.qgd.qld.gov.au/nma/nma003.html
