The AARNet to DSTO Salisbury link is functioning normally again. There have
been no line errors in the last 24 hours. Telecom fixed the problem by
replacing the NTU at Adelaide University.

We are wondering if there is a curse on that site because this is the second,
apparently independant occassion, that that NTU has been replaced in recent
months. The indications of the problems were similar but sufficiently
different to make it unclear if they were related or not. On both occassions
there were carrier transitions and loss of the carrier indication signal at
one end of the link. However, on the first occasion the fault occurred with
a precise frequency of a flash off every 5 minutes. While this time its
occurence seemed equally brief, but random and often more frequent. Can anyone
suggest a common cause?
