-- Summary of a saga as yet without conclusion: The Sydney and Melbourne links from Canberra went down at about: >nsw.gw.au Mon Jan 18 06:18:59 EST 1993 >national.gw.au Mon Jan 18 06:18:25 EST 1993 This was scheduled Telecom work advertised by the ANU last week. Both lines should have returned just after 0700, BUT... As a result of this work, the Melbourne link was somehow looped (i.e. (TX-->RX!) at a Canberra exchange. This was eventually traced and fixed at about: >national.gw.au Mon Jan 18 14:18:33 EST 1993 The Sydney link, on the other hand, returned at about: >nsw.gw.au Mon Jan 18 07:05:58 EST 1993 and then, by coincidence, died again along with the other inhabitants of "a 565 megalink trunk (!)" at: >nsw.gw.au Mon Jan 18 12:34:50 EST 1993 No estimated time to repair. Patches are being applied... I apologise, on behalf of Telecom, for any inconvenience. When they work, they are marvels of engineering. When they fail, you are in BIG trouble. *------------------------------------------------------------------*
