This is to request the assistance of the Internet community to adapt
Macromedia's Accessibility Solutions guidelines for use in Australia...

Thank you to all those who contributed content, comments and
corrections. In particular the references to Australian guidelines and
resources web sites were most useful and have been incorporated in a
second draft, now available for comment at:
http://www.tomw.net.au/as/as.html

The intent is to provide an overview of resources available to make the
web more accessible to people with a disability, when using Macromedia
products. This is a reworking for the Australian environment of U.S
material. The original addresses the requirements of Section 508 of the
U.S. 1974 Rehabilitation Act, (commonly referred to as "Section 508" or
"508") which prohibits U.S. federal agencies from buying, developing,
maintaining, or using electronic and information technology that are
inaccessible to people with disabilities. The Australian version
emphasises the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines.

Those with an interest in accessibility of the web, and in particular
the Australian context, are invited to comment. The final result will
form part of the Macromedia Accessibility Resource Centre for use by web
developers.

ps: Macromedia is planning free eLearning and accessibility seminars in
Australia this year. For more information e-mail:
