I'm very disappointed that there hasn't been more action from any of
the supposed representative groups opposed to Internet Censorship.

So. Not being one to sit on my hands. I have a suggestion. To make
the EFA and us 'net users look more militant, why not start organising
simple, well publicised campaigns to increase our profile?

It wouldn't cost more than a dollar for most Aussie 'net users to fax
or snail mail a copy of John Perry Barlow's declaration of cyberspace
independence to their local fed MPs, the Liberal party, local papers,
major city papers and of course "dick" Alston.

They can happily ignore us because we've been utterly pissweak so far.
This is our freedom of speech at stake. 300 people turning up to a
meeting on a Friday isn't good enough.

But, something simple, cheap and doable by many people, might start
the ball rolling. Have a read of JPB's Declaration,
http://www.eff.org/pub/Publications/John_Perry_Barlow/barlow_0296.declaration
fax or snail mail it, with a paragraph saying that they aren't your
words, but they represent your feelings on the subject.....

Next, we could send the Universal Human Rights Declaration, with
section 19 highlighted...... then the Australian Constitution with
reference to freedom of religion, since the proposed government
filters would prevent people seeing anything bearing "sin" or "lust".

Lets get kicking in this simple way while the legal minds at EFA are
developing their responses to the legislation.

Cheers, Ana
