Stop Telstra Campaign - First Campaign Committee meeting ======================================================== Thanks to all those who have volunteered to help the campaign , and now that initial discussion has established that there is widespread condemnation of the proposal to time-charge local data calls it is time to form an action committee to co-ordinate the campaign. I'd ask all persons interested in having input into the campaign to meet with me and EFA board on IRC on Tuesday night , using the undernet server irc.mpx.com.au on #efa. I suggest a start time of 10.30 pm EST , and anyone who can't make the IRC meeting is urged to check this list for the campaign agenda to be decided. So far , Scott Broadbridge-Brown (sbroadbr@macquarie.com.au) for NSW, Paul Kenna (flash@ozramp.net.au) for Victoria and Jase Przychodzen (mnemonic@pobox.com) for South Australia have indicated that they will handle co-ordination in their regions. Stephen Darragh (srd.it.com.au) , Jase and Tamara Morgan (azure@southwest.com.au) will provide web service support. The use of the campaign web site as a central conduit for updated data ought to be a major part of the campaign. There will be a need for letter-writing and lobbying of politicians in each State , armed with the stoptelstra.faq and with the assistance of an editorial and information service. Each of you can write to local newspapers and other media outlets to publicise and protest the Telstra plan. I am also interested in hearing from any person interested and with the time to be campaign director/spokesperson , together with people who can handle enquiries in all States and territories. As before, email to kheitman@it.com.au . So - first IRC meeting is on undernet , server irc.mpx.com.au on #efa. Start time is 10.30 pm EST , and the meeting will adjourn to a time to be agreed by the new committee. Kimberley Heitman, Chairperson , EFA kheitman@it.com.au http://www.multiline.com.au/~kheit/
