Don't buy Petrol on April 30, 1999 ...? It's time we did something about the price of Petrol in Australia! You - personally - CAN make a difference to the price you pay for your petrol. We are all sick and tired of high prices - when there are literally millions of gallons in storage. Know what we recently found out? The so-called oil cartel has decided to slow Australian production by some 2 million barrels per day to drive up the price. If there was just ONE day when nobody purchased petrol, the price you pay will drop dramatically. We've therefore decided to see how many Australians we can encourage to NOT BUY PETROL on one specific day! Let's have a PETROL OUT! Do not buy any petrol on APRIL 30, 1999. Buy on the Thursday before, or Saturday after. Want to help? Send this message to everyone you know. Ask them to do the same. Talk to your friends ... Do NOT buy any petrol on FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1999.

Silly ole fossil Fizzer cross-posted the following: > Don't buy Petrol on April 30, 1999 ...? Why!? Just to beat your drum? > It's time we did something about the price of Petrol in Australia! Well you Fizzer dont have to buy petrol at all ;) > You - personally - CAN make a difference to the price you pay for your > petrol. I dont buy petrol at all. ;-0 Nowhere to put it either in my pushbike or on the trams I board. > We are all sick and tired of high prices - when there are literally millions > of gallons in storage. Know what we recently found out? <scratches head> That LPG is a third to a half of the price of petrol!? ;-0 > The so-called oil cartel has decided to slow Australian production by some 2 > million barrels per day to drive up the price. Or it could be that reserves are finite and limited and that reducing production may be a good idea after all. > If there was just ONE day > when nobody purchased petrol, the price you pay will drop dramatically. If everybody could all jump up and down from a chair near the east coast, simultanuously, a tidal wave could be started, that if the energy was harnessed could supply the elctricity of Wellington for a day. ;) A big "if" aint it ;) Obviously not everyone, and certainly not the emergency services, or even public services could follow your suggestion. > We've therefore decided to see how many Australians we can encourage to NOT > BUY PETROL on one specific day! > Let's have a PETROL OUT! > Do not buy any petrol on APRIL 30, 1999. Buy on the Thursday before, or > Saturday after. Phhtt! I can just see the petrol co's laughing their gassy asses off 'cos they'll be just as aware as anybody else of the impending date, and they could if they took your seriously, hike up the prices for the Thursday b4, and the Thursday after. So what then!? And in any case unless the people actually stop using the petrol, the same amount of petrol will still be consumed, roughly. The only people who'll probably be inconvenienced will be the casuals @ the convenience stores & petrol stations 'cos they would probably have been layed off that day. > Want to help? Help you buy cheaper petrol!? Sure, just add water to your petrol. Increases the volume, even if cracking the head of the engine slightly ;) > Send this message to everyone you know. Ask them to do the same. Talk to > your friends ... Sure talk to your friends ;) Get laughed at! ;) But please dont propagate this spam along. > Do NOT buy any petrol on FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1999. That would be 29 days too late. -- Toxic Tejay, s890..
