Have Server Problems Got You Feeling Blue?
Thin servers have become hot property in the IT industry in the last
six months, but are they here for the long haul or just another
passing fad? Find out for yourself at the October meeting of
Linux Users of Victoria (LUV), where Unixpac Australia will be giving
us a technical presentation and look under the hood of the Cobalt
Qube Microserver.
Details for the meeting are:
LUV October Meeting - Cobalt Qube
7:00pm - 9:30pm, Tuesday 6 October
Theatre 1 (downstairs)
SEECS Building, Melbourne University
221 Bouverie St, Carlton
A relative newcomer to the thin server market, the low-priced Qube products
(retailing between AU$1990 and AU$3790 depending on the model) provide
easy-administration plug and play network services such as email, file
sharing, ftp serving, and web serving and caching. Australian Qube
distributors Unixpac will be giving an overview of the Qube's
features, the technology behind it (including why they chose Linux as
the underlying operating system) and its advantages over traditional
servers and Windows NT.
Don't waste your Tuesday night, come and see if you're missing out on
this new technology.
For more information regarding the Cobalt Qube products visit the Cobalt
Microserver web site at http://www.cobaltmicro.com/. Information about
Unixpac, IT reseller and solution provider, is available on their web
site at http://www.unixpac.com.au/.
More information regarding Linux Users of Victoria, a non-profit group
dedicated to helping Linux users and promoting Linux in Victoria, can
be found on the LUV web site at http://www.luv.asn.au/.
