You are right, that does seem inconsistant!

How do I justify my first comment, in light of the second?

Perhaps I could add that, although that is the best way to find some sort of
meaning in TV news, there is no need for the ABC news *or* the commercial one.
there are newspapers, journals and even the radio - a combination of which
will supply most of the news, without recourse to TV.

I suppose I will also have to admit that I seldom have time, these days, to
spend the time watching both. Haven't watched the ABC news in months. I still
think it useful to provide a contrast with the commercial news broadcasts -
but as I am living without it, it would be hard to justify its continuation,
based on *my* habits.

In fact, many days the TV is not turned on at all. I read a couple of
newspapers, subscribe to several journals, and sometimes hear the ABC radio
news.

Ah weel, now you see what happens when one tries to be fair to the
indefensible.

TTYL,

Marjorie
