Driving to Geelong, Vic last night and staying overnight, I stumbled across channel 18 UHF CB with a dozen or so active stations involved the most bizarre on air antics. It instantly reminded me on the activity on CH 11 AM anywhere around Melb or Geelong in the mid 70’s but worse. The abuse, bad language, insults and the private addresses and name of people on air rather disturbing. This abuse continued for some hours, naming drug users and acquaintances who purchase regularly. Suppliers of barbiturates were named also. The rubbish that was on Ch7 UHF west of Melb was nothing that occurred in Geelong on 18 last night. Activity was immense, tempers were frayed and with information broadcasted, vigilante groups or a private individual would or could take reprisals or pay backs against operators mentioned. If anyone has a recording of this activity, it should be sent to ACMA and the local police. A most disturbing evening activity on CB I’ve witnessed.
