I bought an "aquavest" which fits around your waist much like a floatation vest on a boat. You go to the deep end of a pool or a lake and run, using arms and legs. This is the only exercise in water which I have tried and actually worked up a sweat with. You can vary your speed and heart rate , do fartlek, etc.just like land running and it is totally impact free to your body.
