While who-is-Mum is obvious enough, as to who-is-Dad may not be. (Even the father of Jesus Christ can be speculated on. It certainly wasn't Joseph.) So, if a kid born by IVF wants to know who is their REAL Dad, should they have the right? Well, it's nice to have a genuine Birth Certificate, with nothing left blank, but the main reason why all birth records should be intact is - medical/scientific: we need to know our biological inheritance, for gene ancestry, if nothing else. If Eugenics, for Master Race purposes, is ruled out, that still leaves the negative aspect, of trying to weed out potential birth defects, or tendencies. What! So we can all keep breeding like rabbits in an over-populated world? Ah, you can't win 'em all.
