Supernatural Religion claims the world was Created by a God, and that Man is
thus the Centre of the Universe - the reason why it all exists.
However, Science has shown that the Universe is a vast expanse, and even
our own Solar System is not Earth-centred. (Earth revolves around Sun, and
not vice versa.)
Yet, in spite of this, we have the Big Bang theory, and search for a God
Particle, as well as the God of the Gaps (though these are shrinking).
So, is the species Homo Sapiens still unique, in spite of our seeming
insignificance?
Yes, it is remarkable that an animal species could evolve to become a
Rational being and understand so much about Nature, human and non-human.
Are we atop an Evolutionary Tree, or merely an aberrant, temporary,
off-shoot?
But, back to the main topic of this posting - Redundancy.
This is still a problem for Religion, as God could surely have been more
efficient, and made us without so much redundancy. A huge universe, just to
produce us?
"Catalyst", on ABC-TV last night, may have solved even this conundrum -
by postulating multiple and/or parallel universes (none of which can be
proved).
This somehow gets rid of the redundancy problem, though exactly how,
eludes me.
