I cannot work out why MakeTeXPK is not invoked by latex when there is a missing font, even when it has been fully modified for local useage and all the environment variables are defined. So now I wish to you the script manually by specifying on the command line. Can somebody give me a few clues? Say, for example, if I wish to generate the font cmr10.746pk This is what I've tried: MakeTeXPK cmr10 746 300 1.0 CanonCX The output is then written to cmr10.300gf and of course then it cannot find the 746 font. I've tried the other combinations but no luck. I think the above command is right although I do not really understand what bpdi (base resolution) and mode (printengine) mean? Can anyone help a desperate person??!*&%? Mark.

MakeTeXPK is never invoked by latex (TeX), it is invoked by dvips. |>So now I wish to you the script |> manually by specifying on the command line. |> |> Can somebody give me a few clues? |> |> Say, for example, if I wish to generate the font cmr10.746pk |> |> This is what I've tried: |> |> MakeTeXPK cmr10 746 300 1.0 CanonCX |> |> The output is then written to cmr10.300gf and of course |> then it cannot find the 746 font. If "it" refers to latex then you must generate a .tfm using MetaFont. However, if you are using dvips then just get the font library from labrea.stanford.edu. The current version is 5.490 so if you don't have tat the recompile dvips as well. The pk files are used by dvips and xdvi. Check all yours paths so TeX looks in the correct place. |>I've tried the |> other combinations but no luck. However, the mode is site-dependent and depends on the printing device. You used CanonCX so I assume then that you do indeed you a laser printer with a CanonCX engine. Otherwise change localmode for MetaFont. |> |> Can anyone help a desperate person??!*&%? |> Mark. -- Yours, Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- + + + * * Michael Werner + + * * werner@dirac.physics.uq.oz.au + + * * Theoretical Quantum Optics, + + ------- Department of Physics, + + * * University of Queensland. + + * * St. Lucia. 4072.
