Does anyone know how to do the following?

I want to output large amounts of PostScript code via \special
directly into the dvi-file.
How do I include <CR>s in the string?
TeX normally ignores the end-of-line.
Changing the \catcode to 11 or 12 results in ^^M .

I don't want to have to use several \specials if I can avoid it.
Ignoring the problem risks having line-breaks which split words,
obviously killing the PostScript code.

Is this a TeX problem, or a DVI problem (i.e dependent on the DVI->PS
converter used; I need it particularly with Textures on Macintosh, and
also with dvips .)

Please mail any suggestions.
