I would prefer an adult male, but would be happy with a male puppy. Am
willing to travel anywhere in US to pickup. Will pay up to $1000.
Email me please, if you have one of these dogs for sale or know someone
who does. Thanks in advance.

Becky,

My local Newfie breeder doesn't have anything available at this
time.

HOWEVER you may want to post your request in
the rec.pets.dogs.breeds newsgroup.

May I offer a couple suggestions? First, Don't put your
offering price in the message... I'm not into Newfies, but I'm sure that
a pet quality (and some show prospects!) won't go as high as what you
offered. You could get taken by some dishonest person!
Second, as with many (most?) large breeds, there are some
soundness problems, especially with CHD (Canine Hip Displaysia). BE
SURE that you buy from a reputable person... I don't mean someone with a
$10,000 kennel business, but a person who has had the puppy/dog checked
and certified.
Third, stay out of the pet stores & puppy mills! While you may
find a real good dog there, the chances lean more toward finding a dog
with a latent medical/genetical problem. (Almost all the American
Kennel Club certified breed clubs have in their by-laws that their
members will not sell to mass marketing retailers.)
Fourth, if you're new into Nnewfies, contact the national breed
club for more info on what to look for, a list of breeders, and what the
medical problems are to watch for. (The breed club address can be
foundf on the AKC Web Page.

Hope I didn't offend you or anyone... the above are just my
feelings from actively participating in breed rescue for the last five or
so years. You see a different story when you go over to the other side
of the fence.

Please feel to E-mail me if you have any questions.

Best luck in finding your perfect puppy!

...Charlie

Search under "dogs and newfoundland" in net search, there is alot of info on what to look at in
purchasing a new newf. You should be able to get a good newf for about $700, big dogs are on
their way out and prices are becoming negotiatble. good luck
