I have an old (1993!) AVID MC 800 based on a Quadra 950. When I'm in the
Digitize Mode I
can only access AVR 1 through 3e. Nothing else is visible (ghosted or
otherwise).
I noticed there is a folder within the Media Composer folder called
"Supporting Files" and within
that is another folder called "Avid Resolutions". In this folder are
"Avid Resolution 01 24 Bit" up
through to "Avid Resolution 06e 24 Bit", as well as Avid Resolution 25,
26, & 27. There is also a
file called "Enhancement Templates"
I use this system for off-line editing only, but I'd like to be able to
output at a better resolution
so I don't get that "how come it looks so blocky?" question every time I
show a rough-cut!
Avid does not support the Nubus systems anymore, I'm told. Anybody have
any info on what I
need to do to get these higher resolutions? And where can I
legitimately get hold of the required
hardware and/or software?
Please keep in mind that I am a producer/director and not a technician.
I'm comfortable
opening the computer and installing cards, but I don't know all the
technical terms and
techniques.
Here is my current configuration:
Avid MC800 (NTSC)
Media Composer version 5.51
Quadra 950 with 78 Meg of RAM
Mac Operating System Version 7.5
2 - 3 Gig Avid Hard Drives
1 - 9 Gig Avid Hard Drive
1 - Zip Drive
Cards Installed (According to "Slot Looker"
Utility):
Slot A - Avid JPEG Board, 1 Field
Slot B - Avid Enhancement Board
Slot C - Truevision NuVista Card
Slot D - Audiomedia 2 Card
Slot E - Empty
Thanks for your assistance
