Have you experienced any problems with any of the AV libraries regarding return of a book missing a tape? If you return your book with a missing tape, the library will charge you the full price of the book. In my case, they wanted to charge me $60.00, even though they, or yourself, can obtain a copy of the missing tape from many "BOOKS ON TAPE" vendors, for free or for a minimal charge. If you return a book with a damaged, or worn out tape, they will attempt to repair it, but if the tape cannot be repaired, they will also charge you for the entire tape. I don't know about you, but this seems to be a questionable policy which should be investigated and changed. What if you paid the full amount then they procure a replacement tape as stated above? Where does that money go? Are we the public being ripped off, or is the library system just too lazy to obtain the tape. all tapes will eventually wear out, so why should we be held responsible? It you are outraged by this practice, then please notify your local library. If you do have to pay the full amount of a book, then demand to have the book, after all you paid for it.
