: If you've got the resources to set one up and maintain it that would be great!

I'd say go for the open mailing list although I think if a fandom
specific arizona newsgroup existed it would get a lot of traffic. I'm on
a mailing list with just a handfull of local fans and it can generate 100
messages in a day. If there is a mailing list created, I'd hope it has a
digest capability.
On a newsgroup, I hardly ever check Az.general since there usually isn't
much of interest to make wading through the posts I don't care for worth
it. If there was an az specific fandom group, I'd probably check it
every time I checked news. That would be a way I could pass on local info
such as where Channel 3 has Deep Space Nine this week or where MMPR and
the rest of the Fox kids shows will end up. I'd rather have a newsgroup
than the mailing list, but if the newsgroup doesn't happen, go for the
mailing list. I don't think it needs to be moderated since its fairly
easy to put someone's name in a KILL file.
