This is the Bay Area Country Dance Society schedule for the
week of Monday, February 11, 2013.

BACDS sponsors English and American traditional dances in the
San Francisco Bay Area.

This is fun, relatively easy, community-oriented dancing with
live music. All dances are taught, no partner is necessary,
and first-timers are welcome unless otherwise noted.

Admission prices:

Supporter: $15
Regular: $10 on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, $9 on weeknights
Member Discount: $2 from regular prices
Student/Low-income: $5
or pay what you can.

Please wear clean shoes with non-marking soles.

Don't know what we're talking about? Check out www.bacds.org/newcomers

NOTES:

Tuesday night is our Woodshed dance in Atherton. Callers try out new material
or new ways of teaching; dancers voice their opinions. Musicians try things
out too. If that sounds like fun, you're welcome! If you plan to come it's a
good idea (but not mandatory) to let Alan Winston know - AWinstonDance@gmail.com

Wednesday will be a more-than-usually romantic night at the Berkeley Wednesday
English, with local treasure Bruce Hamilton calling in front of Susan Worland,
David Mostardi, and Charlie Hancock! There'll be Valentine treats at the break
(more if _you_ bring some).

Friday in San Francisco at St. Paul's is a special community-friendly Barn
Dance led by Erik Hoffman, with KC and the Moonshine Band: squares, circles,
contras and more! This Friday night dance replaces the Saturday night dance!

Since BACDS isn't holding a Saturday night dance I can mention here
that the Bay Area English Regency Society is holding the Cyprians' Ball on
February 16, a beginner-friendly evening of flirtatious English Country Dances
and vivacious waltzes. This will be held at the San Mateo Masonic Lodge (100
N.Ellsworth @ Tilton), led by Alan Winston, with music by the Divertimento
Dance Orchestra under the direction of James Langdell. This is an early-1800s
themed event. Period costume is admired but not required; festive or formal
wear is appreciated. $20 at the door, $2 discount for BACDS members, or $15
via Paypal in advance. www.baers.org

(TDOGS is holding a two-day contra-dance event, California Twirls, Saturday and
Sunday. Advance registration is required. Info:
https://sites.google.com/site/haywardcontra/home/california-twirl ).
