\This is the Bay Area Country Dance Society schedule for the
week of Monday, March 4, 2013.

BACDS sponsors English and American traditional dances in the
San Francisco Bay Area.

This is fun, relatively easy, community-oriented dancing with
live music. All dances are taught, no partner is necessary,
and first-timers are welcome unless otherwise noted.

Admission prices:

Supporter: $15
Regular: $10 on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, $9 on weeknights
Member Discount: $2 from regular prices
Student/Low-income: $5
or pay what you can.

Please wear clean shoes with non-marking soles.

NOTE:

This week brings us Erik Hoffman's hour-long hambo workshop, 6:30 - 7:30,
before the contra on Wednesday, and the Peninsula Playford Ball workshop
on Sunday with Lise Dyckman in front of Stan and Susan Kramer and Craig
Johnson.

Next weekend is the Spring Fever dance weekend at Monte Toyon, with three
programming tracks: contra, English, music, and more! Featuring the
Syncopaths, Goldcrest, Sue Rosen, Susan Kevra, Gary Roodman. Preregister at
bacds.org/springfever

This Saturday afternoon at the same hall where the contra will be, we'll have a
memorial, dance party, and potluck for Vanessa Schnatmeier, with molly and
morris dancing, and some favorite contra and English dances. Vanessa, who died
somewhat unexpected last November, had been publicity coordinator for many
years, but her service to BACDS included being on the Board, co-managing Fall
Weekend for many years, serving on the committees of the Playford Ball and
English Week, dancing with Mayfield Morris and dancing - and later, drumming -
for Mad Molly. We'll share memories in the first part of the afternoon, then
have display dance performances mingled with English and contra dances,
concluding with a potluck supper before the contra. The contra itself will
feature the next generation of fiddle players - the students of Lee Anne Welch
and Erik Hoffman, with Erik, Lee Anne, and Daniel Steinberg.
