I believe you should re-read your posts before you start accusing illiteracy. The english language is an art, too, you know. Your image on the net is how you portray yourself using the written world. >and it only took 5 years to get ba.art after I requested it.... > >EHmmmm ... > >Like I said.... > >Geeks Cultural Illiterates..... Usenet has rules pertaining to creation of newsgroups. If it took you five years, you really were not working hard enough. I mean this. If you could not publicise to enough people to get a vote through (I usually vote yes just for kicks), its your fault. >Let me know when you change the world.... > >Art is in and Armegedon is out boys.... Huh? Gazeundheit. >(Who anyway...is gonna buy those art computers all you people are making ? >Ask all those who got laid off at SGI maybe ? Right ?) I work for a company which makes a multi-media rich operating system. We deal in sound, video, midi, and quite a few other cool things. While we call ourselves Geeks (our hardware, now defunct, included the "GeekPort"), we are also artists. I could probably go in to work and point a finger at any person there, and they would be able to play (and usually have in their office) a musical instrument. We have actors, singers, visual artists, and musicians, and we are all geeks. Just because we do not give money to your pet projects does not mean we are not contributing to the arts. Talent is not free, and thus, neither is art. However, if you want money for your art, sell it. The sad thing is I pretty much agree with you. Children are being regimented and most art is being downplayed as a hobby or wasted time. I dislike your methods intensely, however. You're playing to the wrong crowd. Geeks UNDERSTAND technology, and in most cases understand art. You should be focusing on teachers who still think that adding more computers is going to produce better students and politicians who spend their money in the wrong places. I can understand how you are pissed that your painting was misapropriated and turned into an Internet postcard...but don't assume that all Geeks are that dense. >Mattison Fitzgerald >Artist >http://www.rhinodev.com/M Is your movement anything more then a bunch of icons? Who gave YOU that title of "Art Police?" >http://www.msnbc.com/news/162707.asp ...sheesh...looks like Microsoft uses the same writers for code as for news articles...
