Thanks, Brian. Yes, I saw the closure sign when I rode up on Deer Park Rd several weeks ago too. However, no riders came up on Howell while I was taking a break munching my clif bar. I thought there were still 3-4 miles of uphill to angwin. Just before starting up again I rode over to the barrier and the road both of which were obviously passable at that point. The group I work in is having its offsite this year in Napa renting bikes for a very easy 14 mile loop including two wineries and lunch. Most people will be renting hybrids [the company pays for rentals], although the shop, much to my surprise, also rents the Specialized Roubaix. Anyway it's great that we'll be outside actually doing something. And on bikes. The official day breaks up late afternoon. I'm bringing my own bike and with all the light will take off on another ride. Hence my question re Howell Mtn Rd. It looked quite pretty.
