When I first moved in to Castle Ranger 20 years ago, there was a local rug cleaner (a wonderful independent!) that everyone in our neighborhood used and loved. The guy was great. He arrived on time and left by the end of his stated time. He never suckered the homeowner with hidden costs and charges were very fair. The Total Bonus: by the time he was done you would swear the carpets were brand-spanking new. I called him yesterday and learned (dammit) that he has since retired. This sucks. He didn't recommend anyone. I have no wish to rent a Rug Doctor and DIY; too much work for too little pay-off. I'm not interested in that rug-scrubbing company, either, since the one time I used them they changed the color of my carpet from light-blue to brownish-gray. Can someone recommend a steam cleaning service that won't bankrupt my savings account and still does a decent job. Many thanks. The Ranger
