Costo optical vs Walmart

I am looking for an optician that won't
upsell me, and want to save money too.
I really just want to be checked, and get
some cheap driving glasses. Both Costco
and Wallmart seem to be set up as cheap
places, and I have to think the quality is
the same for someone who does not need
fancy. Any recent experiences with either?

Depends how you define "recent"; I bought my last pair at Costco around
four years ago and they were fine. I just had another eye exam and will
probably get my next pair at Costco. Of course, I won't go to Mallwart,
period.

Yep, I found a little secret - many Costcos have a private
eye doc in the back. Costco's web site says only a few Costco's
have them. Easy to miss - you have to go deep into the eyeglass
area to see the doc's office. I guess I missed it because I need
glasses, eh?

Went to costo - for $49, got a very complete
eye exam and prescription I got to keep.
Of course I walked 5 feet and got great
service for $60 wire frames and everything
including coatings/light material/scratch
resistant - etc - less than $180 including
the frames. Just like in Idiocracy - Costco
is now becoming my one-stop place to shop.
"Welcome to Costco - I love you."
