[Full details on the unit, the schedule, etc are on our web page: http://www.calesar.org. ] California Explorer Search and Rescue will be holding their yearly orientation meeting on September 23rd to kick off this year's training schedule. The meeting will be at 7:30 at Our Lady of Angles Church in Burlingame on the corner of Hillside and Cabrillo. The churck is located at Cabrillo Avenue in Burlingame, California. To get to the church from Highway 101, take the Broadway Exit, and go away from the Bay on Broadway, until you get to El Camino Real. Go right on El Camino, then 3 blocks to Hillside. Go left there (at the light). Go 3 blocks to Cabrillo (another light). It's at the corner of Hillside and Cabrillo, behind the Church, in Room 6. (Map and directions on our web page.) Cal-ESAR has been operating since 1969 and has participated in over 200 active searches to date, all over Northern California. Through our training, exercises, and operations we teach leadership, navigation skills, self-sufficiency, team work, medical skills, SAR skills, and communication skills, to name a few. It is a superb opportunity to help the community while expanding and improving yourself. We'd really like to see a lot of young adults at the meeting. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in a variety of different areas while helping your community. Everyone in the unit is on par with everyone else. We have 17 year olds leading search teams in the field and doing a superb job of it. Age truly doesn't matter, just willingness and ability. Please check out our web page for more details, and we look forward to seeing you on the 23rd! -David Kovar California Explorer Search and Rescue.
