...but I just this week am finally getting my plot in my local (north Oakland) community garden, and I'm all a-twitter. I'm going to be square-foot gardening, and besides tomatoes, which are the *point* of gardening as far as I'm concerned, what's a good thing to plant this next couple of weeks? serene -- Kissing Hank's Ass is 10 years old! http://jhuger.com/kisshank My personal blog: http://serenejournal.livejournal.com My new cooking blog: http://serenecooking.livejournal.com

So much rain this year I got a late start also. I just couldn't clear all the weeds out in the mud. Bah. I'm pretty novice at this, but what about carrots, lettuce, radishes and spinach? Carrots, lettuce and spinach you can eat any time. Radishes grow fast.

I ended up planting a lot of tomatoes, but also carrots, beets, lettuce, and some other stuff. Not radishes, though, because while they're easy and fast to grow, we really don't like them enough to justify any gardening effort on them. serene (pics at http://pics.livejournal.com/serenejournal/gallery/0001g44c ) -- Kissing Hank's Ass is 10 years old! http://jhuger.com/kisshank My personal blog: http://serenejournal.livejournal.com My new cooking blog: http://serenecooking.livejournal.com
