free reading and booksigning
Friday // April 17 // 7 pm

While the Western World was launching the scientific revolution that
would ultimately produce an industrialized society, parts of India,
Tibet, and China launched a revolution of inner science that began a
social revolution which we now have the opportunity to complete. Based
on his in-depth knowledge of Tibet and a thirty-year close relationship
with the Dalia Lama, Robert Thurman now gives a handbook for
enlightening ourselves and the world in "Inner Revolutions: Life,
Liberty, and the Pursuit of Real Happiness" (hardback, $24.95).

An acclaimed scholar and professor, Robert Thurman offers a fresh look
at Buddhism. Come hear the co-founder (with Richard Gere) of Tibet
House, friend of the Dalai
Lama, and celebrated father of Uma ruminate upon his new book on Friday,

April 17 at 7pm. This very special event is free and open to the public.

Robert Thurman, PhD, the first American Tibetan Buddhist monk, has
taught at Harvard University and is currently professor of religion at
Columbia University. He was selected by Time magazine as one of the 25
most influential people of 1997. Thurman is also the author of
"Essential Tibetan Buddhism" (paperback, $13.00), "Buddhist Symbols in
Tibet" (paperback, $14.95), "The Central Philosophy of Tibet"
(paperback, $19.95) and an authortative translation of "The Tibetan Book

of the Dead" (paperback, $13.95).
