POSTED ON AUGUST 7, 1995 Request for Information (RFI) Santa Clara County Health & Human Services Information Data Bank from HEALTHY COMMUNITY-HEALTHY ECONOMY (an initiative of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network) Background: The purpose of this RFI is to select an organization that will be responsible for the development, implementation and on-going operation of a community - wide data base of health and human services resource information to serve the needs of the Santa Clara County community including health and human services providers, employers, schools, libraries, and government. Our intent is to select an operator to develop and operate the system in partnership with the Healthy Community-Healthy Economy (HCHE) Initiative of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley (JVSV). If, as a result of this RFI, we do not receive responses which meet our needs or are unable to negotiate an agreement with an operator, we reserve the right to explore other options. JVSV HCHE will not pay for costs of preparing the RFI response. The Healthy Community Technology Project has prepared a report, "Information & Referral Opportunities for Silicon Valley." The report provides considerable information on user needs including results of a survey of potential users and focus groups. It also details recommendations for the technical and organizational aspects of a solution. We anticipate a period of up to three years to develop the pilot and expand the system county-wide. JVSV Healthy Community-Healthy Economy has raised a small amount of initial seed money and will provide assistance in raising needed start up funding for up to three years. Our intent is for outside funding to decrease and for the system to become self-sustaining. After the completion of the pilot, expansion, and evaluation, we plan to re-negotiate the agreement with the operator so that the operator assumes greater responsibility for policy direction, funding, system organization, staffing and quality assurance. To Order the RFI and Report: You may order a copy of the RFI, The Report, or both by faxing or e-mailing your name address, phone number, fax number and e-mail address to Healthy Community Fax: 408 984-5248. Internet E-mail: jvsvhealth@aol.com Copies may also be picked up weekdays at our office at 1922 The Alameda (The United Way Building), Suite 217 in San Jose, between 9:30 AM and noon. /end ************************************************************************* * Transmitted via Virtual Valley Community Network * * San Jose, Calif.
