Curious thing: The Sulzbergerz' NYT & the ROLLING STONE both report
that LC is returning to the US from Spain after his equinoctial
concert and that his next performance will be in Florida about a month
hence. Yet the rabid _Jerusalem Post_ tells us that LC will appear as
scheduled in Tel Aviv this Thursnight (9/24).

The Tour Page LC's own Website supports the NYT-RS version. So, either
the JP's misinforming the Israeli ticket-buyers or else the elderly &
ailing Leonard is trying to fly on the sly into Scandaland?

Presently I have just finished reading Rafael Sabatini's historical
novel of 15th Century Flanders entitled THE ROMANTIC PRINCE (1929) and
recommend it also to your attention.
Throwing in the fictional figure of Anthony of Egmont will make a

can assure you that the GM involved international Jewry, if you will
excuse the redundancy, murdering 1417 helpless prisoners held in
Earth's largest concentration camp, of whom --here again for the
number I will consult Alison Weir, who has achieved renown as that
rarest of creatures, an excellent American journalist-- 313 were
children**.

You know 'twould be quite wrong to call the Israeli flag-wrapped stage-
strutting 51 year-old Madonna
"a dirty-legged whore" because on the one hand such an appellation
would simply reek of flattery to its fiendishly laughing object and
OTOH at the same time of wanton insult to daughters of the people in
all lands. You and Madonna and some other brazen busters of the
Palestinian picket line are forming a set which we can most obviously
call The Slaughter Singers.
And I am now come to offer you at the last moment, as it were, your
personal out from this pickle which will at the same time serve my own
interest as well.

I will pause here to note that in order to appreciate our situation,
the informed reader will be aware of the circumstances surrounding the
Jews' murders of the Rabbo Sisters, of Iman al-Hams, of Abir Aramin,
of Akaber Zaid and of the three daughters & the niece of Ibrahim
Abuleish. Here on the Usenet I have previously presented the reports

In the longer run, of course, we wish to look for a reincarnation of
the young, handsome Cat to lead a remake of the footage with the
current message. For the time being, however, IMHO 'twill suffice for
you to explain to the Tel Aviv audience that you have only just now

afterwards --who knows?-- perhaps under such changed conditions the
Palestinians would welcome you to come by a coffeehouse on their side

Leonard Cohen's Israel show set to go ahead despite his collapse in
Spain

Canadian singer Leonard Cohen is recovering after collapsing onstage
on Friday while on tour in eastern Spain, according to his music
company.

The veteran poet and performer was released from hospital on Saturday
after suffering from a stomach complaint, Doctor Music Concerts said
in a statement.

The singer-songwriter, who is scheduled to perform at the Ramat Gan
national soccer stadium on Thursday night, was diagnosed as suffering
from food poisoning.

Cohen was taken to a local hospital in an ambulance, and the rest of
the show was cancelled.

Cohen was due to perform on Monday in Barcelona before heading to
Israel, but there were no official announcements as to the status of
either show.

Channel 2 quoted Israeli promoter Gadi Oron on Sunday night as saying
that the sold-out show in Israel would go ahead, and that organizers
had alternatives to the outdoor stadium if it rains.

"The performance here will take place, and it will be excellent," Oron
said. "There's nothing to worry about."

Cohen was part-way through his song "Bird on the Wire" in Valencia
when he fainted, causing the band to stop playing to rush to his aid
as shocked concertgoers watched.

A video showing Cohen kneeling down several times during the
performance and then keeling over sideways during a saxophone solo has
been placed on YouTube on the Web by a fan.

The musician, who will be 75 years old on Monday, was taken in an
ambulance to the Nueve de Octubre hospital in Valencia but released on
Saturday, Barcelona-based Doctor Music Concerts said.

Cohen is scheduled to perform the last show of his Spanish tour at the
Palau Sant Jordi concert hall in northeastern Barcelona on Monday.

Israel urges Leonard Cohen to add Nazareth gig

Tourism Ministry Director-General Noaz Bar Nir on Tuesday urged
internationally renowned artist Leonard Cohen to add another concert
to his upcoming trip to Israel, at the Nazareth outdoor amphitheater
which was specially built for Pope Benedict XVI's recent visit.

Cohen is scheduled to perform at the Ramat Gan Stadium on September 24
in the final stop of his world tour. The concert was promoted under
the slogan, "A concert for reconciliation, tolerance and peace."

In keeping with this theme, all of the net proceeds from the concert
will be earmarked for a newly established fund to benefit Israeli and
Palestinian organizations that are working toward conciliation.

In a statement released Tuesday, Bar Nir called Nazareth a
"commercial, political, communications and cultural center," and
opined that a concert in the city would "attract a large and varied
audience from all the sectors of Israeli society, as well as tourists,
who, together, can listen to moving music, enjoy the beauty of nature
that surrounds the amphitheater and can realize the concert slogan."

The 74-year-old singer was originally scheduled to perform in Ramallah
as well as Ramat Gan, but the gig was canceled after pro-Palestinian
activists said he was not welcome as long as he insisted on performing
in Tel Aviv.
