i also need recommendations for a GP in that part of town (my home is
conveniently located right behind california pacific <formerly pacific
presbyterian> hospital).  i am a member of the bay pacific hmo, so i have to
choose a doctor in their plan (if you have a GP who's good but you don't know
if s/he is a member of bay pacific then let me know; i have a directory of
doctors which are in the plan ... ).  similarly, if you've had a bay pacific
doctor in san francisco who didn't provide good care then i'd be interested
to know about that, too.

specific qualifications: the doctor must be HIV aware, non-homophobic, and
very communicative (one of the doctors who took care of me in boston gave
running commentary on a biopsy he performed while he was doing the work, and
let me see the results in the specimen jar afterwards ... i'm not afraid of
doctors who use big words; i know what most of them mean and can find out
about the rest.)
