OSF/Motif Developers Meeting: August 19
Please join us at a jointly sponsored meeting of the OSF/Motif
Developers Group and Drinking Society and the BayCHI OSF/Motif BOF.
The meeting is at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19.
The topic for the meeting is "Making Xt Applications More Reliable",
presented by Reed Hastings. Reed Hastings has had the "pleasure" of
building several Motif 1.0 applications, and was ultimately driven
to found Pure Software to address what he saw as nearly insurmountable
problems in making Xt applications reliable. As the CEO of Pure
Software he focuses on designing pragmatic products that can increase
software quality. The company's first product, Purify(tm), was
released in January of this year.
Reed formerly wrote network management and object editing
applications for two different startups, Adaptive and Coherent
Thought. Before that he worked for Schlumberger Palo Alto Research,
and holds a masters degree in computer science from Stanford.
The meeting location is at NCD, 339 N. Bernardo in Mountain View,
directly off the Central Expressway.
