* SunOS devGUIDE 3.0, olwm 3.0 and Apple Macintosh MacX 1.1.7 *
*--------------------------------------------------------------------*/
I have developed an X application on SunOS using devGUIDE 3.0 (XView).
The application runs on Suns (under olwm 3.0) and on Macs w/MacX1.1.7
(under olwm 3.0 in a rooted window).
I am having difficulties with the OpenLook HELP Facility under MacX.
I should preface this whole plea for help with the following : My
application has no problems with help while running under olwm on a
Sun Workstation.
Each widget on my GUI has a help file associated with it and the user
is properly pointed to it at run time. It seems the when a user under
MacX positions the mouse over a widget with help available, and hits the
HELP key on the Apple extended keyboard, the HELP popup text pane does
not always appear. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
However, I have noticed the following :
1) Some widgets help is displayed while others are not (and their
functionality is random).
2) If I can get the HELP text pane up and pinned (through working widget)
and then seek help for a non-working widget, I am sometimes able to
get help info to appear. Not always.
3) Also, one trick for getting help to appear seems to be to Iconify my
application and then open it back up. This appears to make widgets
previously unable to display help to work fine. Not always though.
So, has anyone out there had similar problems?? It seems like this may be
tied to refreshing the screen but I can't figure out the details.
I would really appreciate any tips or suggestions you might have. It's
been a while since my last posting but I'm sure you knowledgable netter's
are still out there.

If you respond could you please do so via email. I will accumulate responses
and post a final analysis when I'm finished. I really would appreciate it.
If there are any other developers out there pursuing similar projects I'd love to
discuss them with you. I'll gladly respond to email or phone calls.
