<FTP EMAIL> response
ftp.uni-stuttgart.de is the local machine. It stores 15 GB of sources,
codes, infos etc, so please use ftp.uni-stuttgart.de for Your first
steps in ano-ftp-land. This is the default if You use the
open command without any parameters.

Requests to access ftp.uni-stuttgart.de are handled before any
other site to keep the traffic down and response times fast.
(Thanks to Axel Dunkel ad@cat.de for the code!)

If there are any problems, please send me a note about it.
Fan mail is accepted as well 8-)

	Good Luck ! PI (ftpmail-adm@ftp.uni-stuttgart.de)

ftpmail@ftp.uni-stuttgart.de -	Fetches files from ano-ftp servers and sends them
			back via electronic mail.

If you have problems please email ftpmail-adm@ftp.uni-stuttgart.de
and quote the following line:
$Revision: 1.19 $

The ftpmail-service ignores jobs from the following adresses:
^ftpmail|^postmaster|^mmdf|^mailer-daemon|^system|^admin|^uucp

The ftpmail-service ignores *any* job that contains the string:
<FTP EMAIL> response

Valid commands to the ftpmail gateway are:
------------------------------------------

path email-address
reply-to email-address	Who to send the response to. This is optional
and defaults to the users email address

Followed by one of:
-------------------

help Just send back help
This will abort any other processing
				of the request.
begin start a job, in case Your mailer software
				insists on putting garbage lines
in front of Your mail body. All lines
between the first garbage line and
				this line are skipped.
delete jobid Delete the given job

[If You want to have silent processing of Your request (no ACK, no
xferlog, no status mails), insert before the open the silent command:

     silent Silent processing of request

This feature was proposed and implemented by sws@tora.robin.de,
     Steffen W.Schilke.
    ]

open [site [user [pass]]]	Site to ftp to. Defaults are
				ftp.uni-stuttgart.de anonymous reply-to-address.

Attention:
! Only if there was an open then it can be followed by up !
! to 100 of the following commands !
! ftpmail will try up to 3 times to get the file !

cd pathname Change directory.
ls [pathname] short listing of pathname. Default pathname
				is current directory.
WARNING: The complete ls -lR of the
local site is approx. 50 MB, don't try
to transfer it. Get the /SITEINFO/filelists/
				files instead.
WARNING: Getting a ls -lR listing is
				disabled because of persistent abuse.
dir [pathname] long listing of pathname. Default pathname
				is current directory.
get pathname Get a file and email it back.
WARNING: TRAILING BLANKS ARE *NOT* IGNORED.
				WARNING: WILDCARDS DO *NOT* WORK.

compress Compress files/dir-listings before emailing back
gzip Gzip files/dir-listings before emailing back

uuencode
vvencode
btoa
These are mutually exclusive options for
converting a binary file before emailing.
				(Default is uuencode.)

force uuencode
force vvencode
force btoa
Force all files or directory listings to
				be encoded before sending back.
				There is no default.

mime
Send the message as a Mime Verson 1.0 message.
Text will be sent as text/plain charset=US-ASCII
				Non-text as application/octet-stream.
If the file is splitup then it will be sent
				as a message/partial.

force mime
As mime but force text files to be sent as
				application/octet-stream

no [compress|gzip|uuencode|vvencode|btoa|mime]
				Turn the option off.

size num [b|k|m|B|K|M]
Set the max size a file can be before it
is split up and emailed back in parts to
the given number of kilobytes, megabytes
or bytes. Default is 61440 byte.
				This is limited to 262144.

mode binary
mode ascii
Change the mode selected for the get
				command. Defaults to binary.
end
quit End of input - ignore any following lines.

Example scripts are:
--------------------

open
dir
quit
Connect to ftp.uni-stuttgart.de and send back the contents of the top level
	directory

reply-to lmjm@doc.ic.ac.uk
open
cd unix
get buffer.shar
quit
Connect to ftp.uni-stuttgart.de and send back the file buffer.shar to
	lmjm@doc.ic.ac.uk

open src.doc.ic.ac.uk
cd graphics/X11/X.V11R5
get ls-lR.Z
cd ../contrib
compress
ls -ltra
quit
Connect to src.doc.ic.ac.uk, send back the file ls-lR.Z in
graphics/X11/X.V11R5. As this is a binary file it has to be transfered
in binary mode. Because it is binary it will automatically
be uuencoded (the default binary encoder). Then change to ../contrib
and mail back a compressed directory listing. Although compressing ls
output makes it binary, which then has to be encoded, it still ends up
	smaller than the original.

open
cd graphics/X11/X.V11R5/fixes
get fix-08
get fix-09
get sunGX.uu
quit
	Retrieve some recent X fixes

open
cd gnu
atob
mode binary
get emacs-18.57.tar.Z
quit

NOTE:
To ease the decoding of multipart mailings, every part is
enclosed by the lines

ftpmail-begin
<stuff>
ftpmail-end

This can be used to automatically decode e.g. uuencoded mails. Save
all ftpmail mail into a file and type:

sed '/^ftpmail-end/,/^ftpmail-begin/d' < file | uudecode

It will concatenate the files into one file; delete all lines between
all 'ftpmail-end' and 'ftpmail-begin' couples and uudecode the file.

NOTE:
The ftp-server ftp.uni-stuttgart.de is capable to convert whole
subdirectories into one tar file that gets send to the requesting
user. Just use

get directory.tar
get directory.tar.gz

to fetch files. This does only work on ftp sites using the wuarchive
ftpd and enabeling this feature, like ftp.uni-stuttgart.de does.
