[Be sure to check out our web page: http://maryland.multiverse.com. There's plenty of information and an on-line petition you can sign!] CLIP (Citizens for Legitimate Investment Priorities) is an organization dedicated to stopping the public funding of NFL stadiums in Baltimore and Landover, Maryland. The majority of Maryland's citizens are against these deals! If you agree that using public funds raised through taxes and lotteries to make millionaire football team owners even richer is a bad idea, then WE NEED YOUR HELP! Don't just do it yourself, either. Get your friends and families involved. It's your money....make sure it's spent correctly! 1) Call, fax, or write your Maryland state legislator. Let him or her know where you stand on this issue. Let your legislator know that you don't want any deals cut, no trading votes, no cloakroom handshakes that allow this deal to go through. Tell your legislator to JUST SAY NO! Phone and fax numbers for legislators are listed on our web page, http://maryland.multiverse.com. 2) Join us to lobby the legislature in Annapolis on Monday, March 4. The Maryland legislature works late on Monday evenings, so we will work the halls of the State House to pass out flyers and to lobby legislators and tell them of our anti-stadium position. We're meeting in the lobby of the Lowe House Office Building. Plan to arrive by 6:45 pm. 3) Join us for an anti-stadium rally at the State House on Sunday, March 10 at 3:00 pm. Senate floor action is expected to take place on the following day, so it is KEY that we make a strong impression on Sunday, March 10, to show the strength of our conviction, that these stadiums should not be built with public funds. Bring your friends, your neighbors, your family dog, BUT MAKE SURE YOU COME! If you can't help with any other event, make it to this one! 4) Sign the on-line petition at http://maryland.multiverse.com. After we tabulate the results, we will forward them to local media and Maryland legislators. 5) Join the no-stadium Internet mailing list, where we plan strategy and publicize upcoming anti-stadium events. To join, send an e-mail to no-stadium-request@world.std.com. In the body of the message, type the word SUBSCRIBE and nothing else. You'll receive a confirmation message a short time later.
